Minotaur MTAC M&P Shield Holster is Adjustable and TUCKable!

This Minotaur MTAC kydex holster is really an intriguing IWB Shield holster in part because it can be a holster for just about any of your guns with the replaceable "spare body" system that allows the kydex holster shell to be replaced with one fitted for another weapon.

And fitted they are. Each Minotaur MTAC holster is fitted at the factory and may even be noticeable from a scratch or two on the inside of the kydex. Yeah, EACH one is tested before it leaves; nice

Do you tuck your shirts in?

Well this holster is tuckable, with clips that accommodate a belt up to 1-1/2 inches.

It's slim, as it should be. One reason you bought an S&W M&P Shield is for concealed carry right? As you can probably see from the picture is very adjustable too, for both ride height and "cant", so you get the comfort and draw that YOU want.

Price

This is one of the more pricey Shield holsters you'll look at, but if the Amazon reviews are any indication the people who have bought one (OK, maybe one exception) are very happy with their purchase taking into account what they paid for it.

Personally I'm putting this holster on my shortlist, if for no other reason than I can buy it as an M&P Shield holster now and possible get a "spare body" for another firearm later.

My Search For The Right Smith & Wesson M&P Shield Holsters For Concealed Carry

Finally Found M&P Shield In Stock - Time For A Holster

Finally! Now I Need A Concealed Carry Shield Holster
The Smith & Wesson M&P Shield first hit my radar screen in the Fall of 2012 when I could see that I would soon be able to get my Texas CHL (Concealed Handgun License). Unfortunately, in many ways, that tragedy out East sent the country into a tailspin.

So a search for a M&P concealed carry holster wasn't too much of a priority when I couldn't even find one of the firearms themselves in stock to look at, let alone buy.

At first the guys at Cabela's - my best chance for finding a S&W Shield in stock - told me to try back after the first of the year.

And for those of you ready to chastise me for shopping at a big box store instead of a mom & pop gun shop locally, the local shop told me "good luck, I don't know when we'll ever get one of those again".

After the first of the year, they (Cabela's) told me to come back in late February.

In late February they told me they really had no idea. By late May of 2013 Cabella's told me that they were getting a few in but that they were either already sold or went immediately. A helpful employee gave me the actual SKU to ask for and said call in daily.

Well, I told him the last time I called and asked for the firearms counter no one answered and before that I got hold of a guy who clearly didn't think I had any right to interrupt his day via telephone!

The first of June, though, found me at the Cabella's hand gun counter with a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield in my hands without someone else's name on it. Easy enough, but no M&P Shield holsters in stock at all, so off to Amazon I go to see what they offer.

In the posts that follow I hope to relay what I find as I review various Smith & Wesson M&P Shield holster options for concealed carry and just for the range; and the possibility that Texas may soon allow open carry as well.

So look here for M&P Shield holster types:
  • IWB (Inside Waist Band)
  • OWB (Outside Waist Band)
  • Standard strong side holsters
  • Shoulder holster rigs
  • Ankle holsters
  • Ladies Shield holsters (NOT FOR ME!, I have females in my family too)
  • SOB (Small Of [the] Back)
  • Boot holster options or for when wearing boots
  • Kydex holsters
  • Crimson Trace & Lasermax Shield holsters
Get the idea, right? I'll be looking at any holster worth looking at for the S&W Shield.

Fortunately, none of the Shield holsters discriminate by caliber, so it doesn't matter if yours is chambered in 9mm or .40 S&W.
